FF+10 Conference

FF+10 Conference

FOSS initiatives in India started off in the year 2001 with the “Freedom First!” conference held at Trivandrum on 20 July, 2001. This conference, spearheaded by a small group of advocate-activists and supported by the Government of Kerala, saw the inauguration of FSF-India. The event also provoked a debate in civil society critiquing the extant modes of production, distribution and ownership of not just software, but other intellectual artefacts such as literature, cinema and music.

A decade later, IC-FOSS is taking the initiative to organize the FF+10 conference. The broad theme of the 2011 Conference is: “A Decade of Software Freedom in India: Looking Back, Looking Forward.”
